Being targeted right now?
Money leaving your account, someone threatening you, an account taken over. Here is what actually helps, in order.
1930
National cyber crime helpline · toll-free · 24×7
cybercrime.gov.in
National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal · file the complaint
Both are run by the Government of India — the portal by the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre. Neither costs anything. Neither is ours.
What to do, in order
- 1
Call 1930 — before anything else
The national cyber crime helpline is toll-free and answers 24 hours a day, every day. It has been connected to 85 banks, payment intermediaries and wallets since the financial-fraud reporting system was built, so a call reaches the institutions that are holding the money. Call before you finish reading this page.
- 2
Tell your bank to freeze the account
Separately from 1930, call the number printed on your card or in your banking app and say the words "unauthorised transaction". Ask them to block the card and freeze the account. Do this even if you have already called 1930.
- 3
Stop replying, but do not delete anything
Break contact — do not send another payment, do not share another code, do not click anything else. Keep every message, screenshot, transaction reference, phone number and UPI ID exactly as it is. Deleting the conversation destroys the only record of what happened.
- 4
File the complaint at cybercrime.gov.in
The National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal takes the formal complaint and routes it to the right police jurisdiction. The call to 1930 starts the process; the portal complaint is what carries it forward. Both are free.
Why calling quickly matters
The helpline is not just an advice line. The financial-fraud reporting system behind it connects 85 banks, payment intermediaries and wallets to the cybercrime backend, so a report can reach the institutions actually holding the money rather than waiting on paperwork.
Money that has already moved on is far harder to recover than money still sitting in the receiving account. That is the whole reason speed is worth more here than certainty — call first and give details after.
What we can do about it today
Nothing, honestly. Cyber Rakshak is still being built and none of it is released, so there is no product we could point you at that would help you in the next hour. The numbers above are the ones that will.
If you want to tell us what happened — so that what we build answers something real — you can write to us. Do that after you have called 1930, not instead of it.
